How can I check if an AI API is down?

Each provider publishes an official status page. This page reads those status feeds live and shows a green / amber / red badge per provider. For a definitive history of incidents, open the provider's status page directly.

Is it the API or my code?

A 429 is a rate limit and 401/403 is an auth issue — both are on your side. Widespread 500/503 errors or timeouts usually mean a provider incident; confirm on the status page.
